The Fire and Medical and Police Departments had 1,413 wireless devices that totaled approximately $662,325.75 in FY2016/17. These devices include phones and AirCards. Through this program, City devices can draw from the Citywide voice or data allowance if usage exceeds an individual plan’s limit, mitigating overage charges. In addition, equipment upgrades can be leveraged from a Citywide perspective, allowing aging or failing devices to be replaced as needed. Also, the City uses a procurement card to make payment under the agreement, which has increased the City’s rebate.
