Purchase of DNA Mixture Interpretation Software and Maintenance (Replacement/Upgrade) for the Mesa Police Department (Sole Source) (Citywide)
In April 2019, Council approved the purchase of DNA Mixture Interpretation Software for the Police Department’s Forensic Services Division. The software program assists in identifying suspects and aids in solving crimes. Software is available to provide a continuous model of interpretation. Forensic Services already uses STRmix software and it is imperative to continue with the same. This purchase will provide four STRmix licenses, upgrade and maintenance, and validation.
The Police Department and Purchasing recommend awarding the contract to the sole source vendor, NicheVision Forensics, LLC, at $108,500. This purchase is funded by Department of Justice, DNA Capacity Enhancement and Backlog Reduction Grant.
