Purchase of Three Rapidly Deployable Camera System Kits (Additions) for the Mesa Police Department (Sole Source) (Citywide)
Currently, the Department utilizes the KTAC deployable camera system that was purchased in 2016 with seven camera kits. The cameras feed into a receiver that can decode the encrypted signals from all the cameras simultaneously and then separate each camera feed to display them onto multiple screens in a command center setting. These kits are deployed from a tripod for emergencies and events of large gatherings such as sporting events, holiday events, protests, etc. The same KTAC camera system is also utilized by Phoenix, MCSO, Tempe, and Scottsdale; therefore, can be shared by the agencies to construct a much larger system, should one be needed.
City staff and Purchasing recommend awarding the contract to the sole source vendor, KTAC Communications, at $102,885. This purchase is fully grant funded by the Arizona Department of Homeland Security.
