Nitrogen levels in the effluent discharged have strict limits enforced by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality. In 2014, during an improvement project, a known air leak in the BNR process was corrected. In doing this, the BNR requires an extra carbon feed to maintain the permit. Water Resources anticipates bulk methanol usage will continually increase each year through the contract term.
