One-Year Renewal Contract for Police Service Dogs for the Police Department K9 Unit
The Police Department's K9 Unit uses police service dogs for both patrol and detection (e.g. explosives, narcotics, etc.) purposes. The K9 Unit typically acquires one to two dogs per year. The dogs are acquired when they are two to four years old and typically serve for five to seven years.
The Police Department and Purchasing recommend authorizing the renewal contract with Adlerhorst International Inc., at $35,000, based on estimated requirements.
