Title: Purchase of a Replacement Gas Chromatograph Mass Spectrometer for the Water Resources Department (Citywide) This purchase will provide a gas chromatograph mass spectrometer to run organic analyses for wastewater, bio-solids, and drinking water. Currently organic analyses are performed by an outside laboratory and it can take 2 to 3 weeks to receive contamination data back from a sample. Quick analyses performed on this new equipment will help assess potential threats in the drinking water and wastewater effluent. The old gas chromatograph mass spectrometer was purchased in 1998 and does not achieve the detection limits needed. The Water Resources Department and Purchasing recommend authorizing the purchase using the City of Tucson cooperative contract with Agilent Technologies, at $127,066.83.
