Purchase of a Disk Backup System (Replacing Tape Backup System) for the Police Department (Citywide)
The new disk backup system will replace the existing tape backup system that is nearly ten years old and is at end of support in March. The backup system provides archival backup of the Police Department's data and file shares, such as the home drives, division shares and databases, which are critical for day-to-day file recovery as well as disaster recovery in the event of a system failure.
The Police Department, Information Technology Department, and Purchasing recommend awarding the contract to the lowest, responsive and responsible bidder, CDW Government LLC, at $175,398.13. This purchase is funded by the Justice Assistance Grant ($140,063.00) and by the Information Technology Department capital budget ($35,335.13).
